True Detective season 2: Nic Pizzolatto reveals Colin Farrell and Vince Vaughn's characters are deeply linked
True Detective season 2 writer Nic Pizzolatto finally revealed some spoilers about the upcoming HBO series.
During an interview with Vanity Fair, the 39-year-old writer revealed that Colin Farrell and Vince Vaughn's characters will share a unique intimacy on the show.
"Colin plays a former L.A. County sheriff's deputy who made a fateful decision in his path that intimately linked him and Frank —a career criminal played by Vince Vaughn— and started him on a spiral away from the type of man he was supposed to be," Pizzolatto told Vanity Fair.
"At the point we run into him, he's a detective for this city within L.A. County that's almost entirely industrial. He's indebted to, employed by, and somewhat friends with Frank. They get drawn together because of various collusions around the murder of this figure, this city manager," he added.
Meanwhile, a leaked plot synopsis suggests that Farrell's character Ray Velcoro -- a compromised detective -- will join detective Ani (played by Rachel McAdams) to solve the murder mystery of Ben Caspar, a corrupt city manager of a fictional California city.
Pizzolatto, told the entertainment magazine that the story will be based on the fictional, tiny yet controversial Californian city of Vernon. The industrial city is home exclusively to industrial and meatpacking plants and had just 114 inhabitants as of 2013.
Ben's body was found on a lonely stretch off the Pacific Coast Highway near Big Sur, with Satanic symbols etched on his chest.
The investigation of his murder will unfold dirty secrets and politics of the town. Moreover, rumours also suggest that the show will feature an explicit orgy and that the show's producers hired porn stars to film the scenes.
HBO's investigative thriller drama True Detective season 2 will premiere on 21 June.
