Uefa Europa League semi-final draw: Manchester United draw Celta Vigo in final four

Manchester United have drawn the lowest ranked side remaining in the competition in Celta Vigo. They will travel to Estadio Municipal de Balaidos for the first leg on 4 May, before welcoming the Spaniards to Old Trafford a week later on 11 May.

Their former academy player Giueseppi Rossi is currently on Celta's books, but yet another awful knee injury means he won't be involved in this tie. Instead, Iago Aspas will have the chance to leave English football fans with a very different impression of what he is capable of.

The winner of Ajax vs Lyon will be the home team in the Europa League final in Stockholm on 24 May.

Their current one isn't too bad either. The average age of the side that came through the quarter-finals is just 22 with six players aged 23 or under in the starting XI. That includes a 17-year-old by the name of Justin Kluivert, a forward following in the footsteps of his old man Patrick.

With a Uefa coefficient ranking of 25th, Lyon represent the highest-ranked side that United can be paired with. Their second-leg clash at Besiktas saw a repeat of the 2-1 home victory in France last week, forcing the tie to a penalty shootout. Bruno Génésio's team held their nerve, progressing 7-6 from the spot.

In Alexandre Lacazette, they have the most potent goalscorer remaining in the competition, having netted 30 goals in 40 appearances this season. An old face could also come back to haunt Mourinho, should a trip to the the Parc Olympique Lyonnais beckon.

Memphis Depay has scored five times and provided four assists in his 12 Ligue 1 appearances since leaving Old Trafford in January.

That is exactly the sort of output United were hoping for when they brought Depay to the club from PSV Eindhoven in 2014 - only for him to flop. Now they will be hoping to stay out of his crosshairs. And ensure nothing like this happens on their watch.

Of the remaining teams, United are the highest ranked club in Uefa's coefficient rankings which rank each side on their performances in European competition over the past five seasons. By that measure, Celta Vigo represent United's best possible option, ranked the lowest of the remaining sides in 57th place.

The La Liga side took a narrow 3-2 victory to Belgium on Thursday night, with a 1-1 draw at Genk securing their place in the final four. What might pose a concern, however, is that Celta are cruising to a comfortable mid-table finish domestically, meaning they can focus the remainder of their season on upsetting United.

Yet another injury for Giuseppe Rossi means there is no chance of a reunion for him with his former club. But the Spanish side have plenty more fire power at his disposal.

Search 'Iago Aspas' and the second result is the moment most Premier League fans will associate him with.

Back in Spain however he has rediscovered the goal scoring touch that convinced Liverpool to snap him up. Aspas has 16 league goals this season, fourth best in La Liga and more than Antoine Griezmann and Alvaro Morata.

After leaving Belgium with a 1-1 draw last week, United needed extra time before Marcus Rashford produced another moment of exquisite skill to continued his storied rise at Old Trafford. His wonderful effort sealed a narrow 2-1 win on the night against Anderlecht - good enough to send his side through 3-2 on aggregate.

Manchester United needed 210 minutes to get the job done, but last night they successfully booked their place in the Europa League semi-final draw.

While last Sunday's win over Chelsea keeps their hopes of a top four finish in the Premier League alive, success in Europe's second competition is still their best hope of qualifying for next season's Champions League campaign.
