War For The Planet Of The Apes is 'our biggest movie' says producer following trailer release
The 20th Century Fox film is set to release on 14 July 2017.
The apes are back... this time ready for war. 20th Century Fox released a teaser for the upcoming film War For The Planet Of The Apes at Times Square ahead of the New York Comic Con and while the video gives nothing away, Caesar warns: "You must go before the fighting begins. War has begun."
In the 46-second video, the face of the ape is formed out of what we presume must be ash, as he talks about the impending conflict against humans led by Colonel.
Speaking at the film's Comic Con panel, producer Dylan Clark called it "our biggest movie," while director Matt Reeves commended Andy Serkis for his role as Caesar stating that he deserved an Academy Award. "He's an incredible, incredible actor," he added.
The new film picks up, two years after Dawn Of The Planet Of The Apes (2014), with the dominant apes at war with the humans led by a harsh and extreme Colonel.
The official synopsis reads: "In War for the Planet of the Apes, the third chapter of the critically acclaimed blockbuster franchise, Caesar and his apes are forced into a deadly conflict with an army of humans led by a ruthless Colonel. After the apes suffer unimaginable losses, Caesar wrestles with his darker instincts and begins his own mythic quest to avenge his kind. As the journey finally brings them face to face, Caesar and the Colonel are pitted against each other in an epic battle that will determine the fate of both their species and the future of the planet."
"Watching Woody and Andy slugging it out on set was very exciting," Clark told the audience, while Serkis added, "He is an incredibly actor, a phenomenal actor Woody, he really is. Caesar and the Colonel are kind of drawn to each other... there's this bizarre connection."
War For The Planet Of The Apes is expected to hit cinemas on 14 July 2017.
