Watch Brock Turner-inspired episode of Law & Order SVU as Trump-based story is postponed
Episode 5 of season 18 of the crime drama airs on Wednesday, 26 October on NBC.
NBC has again postponed the Donald Trump-inspired episode of Law & Order: Special Victims Unit. After moving it from 19 October to 26 October, the network has now shifted it to 16 November —after the presidential elections.
Titled Unstoppable, the episode tells the story of a millionaire (played by Gary Cole) involved in politics, whose "campaign goes haywire when several women go public with damaging accusations".
In the promo, Cole says: "I'm a handsome, charming millionaire. Women throw themselves at me." In another scene he tells reporters: "Know that I have nothing to hide."
However, fans of Detective Benson will not have to wait till then to see her put another criminal behind bars. Episode 5 of season 18, titled Rape Interrupted, will focus on a story very similar to that of Stanford student Brock Turner, who was found guilty of felony sexual assault after having sex with an unconscious girl on the university campus.
The show will star Anthony Edwards (who played Mariska Hargitay's love interest on ER) as the suspect's father and Benson's first partner.
Do not expect the reunion to be a sweet one though. "You are looking at the fight of your life," Patrick Griffin (Edwards) warns her. "You and your whole department."
To find out if SVU manages to get the suspect a longer prison term than Turner received in real life, log on to NBC for episode 5 of Law & Order: SVU tonight (26 October) at 9/8c or watch the show live online here.
