WWE SummerSlam 2016: Check out confirmed and rumoured matches
The event will air live from Brooklyn, New York on 21 August.
WWE has confirmed some matches for SummerSlam pay-per-view (PPV) scheduled to take place in Brooklyn, New York on 21 August. The main card of the event will see the newly created WWE Universal Championship up for grabs. Another featured match will see a fierce battle for the WWE World Championship.
Check out the confirmed matches:
WWE Universal Championship
Finn Balor and Seth Rollins will battle for the first-ever title created to rival the WWE World Championship, which is exclusive to SmackDown following the brand split. As of now, the design of the belt has not been disclosed but according to rumours Raw's top title will be red, while SmackDown's will be blue.
WWE World Championship
Dolph Ziggler will be looking to dethrone the current champion Dean Ambrose, who won the title at Money In The Bank in June. Since then Ambrose has skilfully defended his title but it will be interesting to see if he will be able to retain his title this time around.
WWE United States Championship
Rusev and Roman Reigns will square off for the United States Championship, which the Bulgarian brute has defended on numerous occasions. However, Reigns will be looking to defeat Rusev after losing his WWE heavy weight title and undergoing a 30-day ban for breach of WWE's wellness policy.
WWE Intercontinental Championship
The Miz will face Apollo Crews as the latter has earned the right to challenge the champion.
WWE Women's Championship
Charlotte will challenge champion Sasha Banks for the title. Brooke won't be at Charlotte's ringside as she has been banned.
WWE Tag Team Championships
Luke Gallows and Karl Anderson will clash with champions The New Day.
Brock Lesnar vs Randy Orton
This will be Randy Orton's first high-profile match since returning from injury, while Brock Lesnar comes after his impressive return to mixed martial arts after a gap of five years with a win over Mark Hunt a UFC 200.
John Cena vs AJ Styles
Styles will square off with the former 15-time WWE heavy weight champion in a rematch. The previous match between the two wrestlers was won by Styles at Money In The Bank.
Enzo Amore & Big Cass vs Chris Jericho and Kevin Owens
The tag team match between these superstars will be the first match of the event.
