Xbox boss Phil Spencer slams fanboys after revealing excitement for PS4 exclusive Uncharted 4

Xbox boss Phil Spencer has revealed his excitement for Naughty Dog's PS4 exclusive Uncharted 4: A Thief's End, and responded to an angry Xbox One fan by slamming both him and the very idea of console wars.

Microsoft's Xbox One and Sony's PS4 are competitors for sure, but they're not enemies. This is something that Spencer has repeatedly stated in the past. For some however, owning one console requires an unbridled hatred of the other. Spencer disagrees.

It started with a fan asking Spencer about the games he is most excited about this coming year. "Gears [of War 4]. I thought [The] Division beta was very good. People will block me but [Uncharted 4] will be a great game I'm sure. Love the [Quantum Beak] story."

An Xbox fan from London responded saying: "'Xbox Head' talking about how great UC4 will be, just wave the white flag already. This is embarrassing sad to say." To which the Xbox boss replied: "We should all applaud when a team does something special. Those who hope for [a] team to fail due to platform aren't real gamers."

Wise words from an adult in an industry that often lacks grown ups.

Spencer has been pretty open about the uphill battle Xbox has faced in competing with Sony's enormously popular console, but the Xbox has still been a success in its own right – selling well, if not as well as the PS4.
