Zayn Malik dumps Perrie Edwards: James Corden comforts Little Mix singer after split
Perrie Edwards has opened up to James Corden about her split from ex-One Direction star Zayn Malik. During a recent appearance on the The Late, Late Show with bandmates Jesy Nelson, Leigh-Anne Pinnock and Jade Thirlwall, the 22-year-old singer insisted she was "good".
The heart-to-heart moment occurred after a genuinely concerned Corden took on the role of supportive big brother and pulled the Black Magic hit maker in for a cuddle. "Are you OK? It has been a tough few weeks," he asked her.
Edwards responded with a smile: "Do you know what? I am good. Things have been going so well in America. I wake up every day and thank my lucky stars that I have these three girls." The audience showed their support by cheering as she received a huge hug from the former Gavin And Stacey star.
Malik, who popped the question in August 2013, is said to have ended their romance in July via text, leaving his partner "devastated". A source previously told People magazine: "Perrie is being a trooper about it and putting on a brave face but she's devastated. She's doesn't know what he's thinking. She's going to go out and promote the new single but obviously the timing could not be worse, especially when she's going to be doing so many interviews?"
Although the Bradford-born star has remained tight-lipped about the break up, he made his feelings towards the pop princess very clear with a not-so-subtle dig at Little Mix ahead of their performance at the 2015 Teen Choice Awards. He retweeted a message from another account which asked followers to "retweet" if they think Little Mix rivals Fifth Harmony have "the better single", or "favourite" for Perrie's band's single. On 17 August, he also shared a cryptic tweet that read: "Nothing changed you just never knew."
