Zayn Malik swaps girlfriend Gigi Hadid for Transformers actress Nicola Peltz in It's You music video

Zayn Malik lusted after his girlfriend Gigi Hadid in Pillow Talk but there is a new object of his affections in the music video for his latest single, It's You. In the black-and-white visuals, which debuted exclusively on Apple Music on 26 February, the former One Direction star appears alongside actress Nicola Peltz (Transformers, Bates Motel).

Directed by Ryan Hope, the video opens with Malik, 23, inside a plush condominium watching Peltz outside outside in the garden before she slowly slides into the swimming pool. Complementing the moody tone of the ballad, a reflective Malik is seen inside smoking a cigarette before swooning over Peltz from a distance at a party as she chats to her boyfriend. Unfortunately for Malik, he never quite gets close enough to his crush and later watches her drive off.

It's You is believed to have been written about Malik's ex-fiancee Perrie Edwards, whom he split from August 2015 after ending their two-year engagement. Lyrics include: "I won't cover the scar, I'll let it be so my silence won't be mistaken for believing / Am I wrong for wanting us to make it?" Hinting at his inspiration for the single, Malik told Beats 1 radio DJ Zane Lowe: "I just felt like I needed to put myself out there on that just because it was a form of therapy for me and it did help get me through some s**t."

Earlier in February, Malik performed the single on The Tonight Show With Jimmy Fallon, marking his first live performance as a solo artist. The ballad will feature on Malik's debut solo album, Mind Of Mine, which is set for release on 25 March but is available for pre-order on iTunes now, and is the second single to be lifted off the record. Pillow Talk serves as the album's lead single and proved to be a huge success for Malik after soaring to number one on the UK charts and Billboard's Hot 100.
