Zoella the new Xtra Factor host? YouTube sensation denies TV debut
Youtube vlogger Zoella has refuted claims that she is preparing to make her TV debut on The Xtra Factor.
It has been reported that Simon Cowell was lining up the 25-year-old internet sensation, who offers beauty and fashion tips online, to replace outgoing 1Xtra DJ Sarah Jane Crawford on the talent competition's sister show.
But Zoella – born Zoë Sugg – has since set the record straight on her alleged new gig, telling a fan on Twitter that there was no truth to the rumours.
Since starting her video-blogging channel in 2009, Zoella has seen her fanbase skyrocket. She now boasts an impressive eight million subscribers and can demand up to £20,000 a month from advertisers looking to place their products alongside her fashion guides.
The young entrepreneur has also published a bestselling novel and created a range of beauty products for Superdrug.
In April, it was announced that she and boyfriend Alfie Deyes, aka PointlessBlog, are getting their own waxwork figures at Madame Tussauds.
"Imagine in 10 years' time... I can tell my kids: 'They once made a wax figure of me...' You have to think beyond the now... YouTubers are taking over," she said in a vlog filmed on their visit to Madame Tussauds for their first fittings.
Earlier in May, Crawford stepped down as Xtra Factor host after just one series. Olly Murs, the 2009 runner up, will host the main X Factor show alongside Caroline Flack following Dermot O'Leary's departure.
