Andy Murray marries Kim Sears: Did Wimbledon star ban mother Judy from dancing at wedding?
Last year Judy Murray showed off her dancing skills during her stint on Strictly Coming Dancing, but the former tennis coach did not get the same privilege on her son's biggest day.
The Daily Mail reports that the Andy Murray may have banned his mother from dancing at his wedding to long-time love Kim Sears.
As she left the venue, Judy's mother Shirley Erskine, 80, revealed that the mother of the groom did not make any shapes, instead choosing to let the bride and groom lead the evening's festivities at Cromlix, the luxury hotel the tennis ace brought in 2013 for £1.8m ($2.6m).
"We've just all been up there together and everybody's parting in dribs and drabs, so we're on the way home," she said.
Asked what the newlyweds' first dance was, Murray's grandfather Roy Erskine, 83, said: "It was something with music anyway. They actually did go out all for the first dance."
Although she was 'banned' from muscling in, Judy, who was voted off the show for her "wooden" dancing style, is said to have given her son some dancing lessons ahead of his nuptials.
The world No.3 exchanged vows with Sears at the 12th century Dunblane Cathedral in his hometown of Dunblane, Scotland.
Sears choose a cream embroidered Jenny Packham dress with three-quarter length sleeves and her hair swept back from her face in a half-up and half-down do, pinned with a long, lace veil, while Murray opted for a traditional blue tartan Scottish kilt.
Ahead of their big day Sears revealed that she was a fan of country music and was keen to incorporate it in their wedding.
"I love the music and all the values it represents," she wrote in a post on her website. "I think there's something old-worldly and wonderful about those ideals. Plus, I really like cowboy hats."
