Are Kim Kardashian and Kanye West headed for $1bn divorce?

American reality television star Kim Kardashian and husband Kanye West have been hit by rumours that their marriage is in trouble. A US magazine has come up with claims that the Keeping Up With the Kardashians star has filed for a $1bn (£713m) divorce from the rapper.

"Kim tried hard to save this marriage but it's become unbearable," an alleged source told Star magazine, according to Hollywood Life.

It was recently reported that Kardashian asked the Gold Digger hitmaker to keep low on his social media accounts. The Life of Pablo rapper shared bizarre posts on his Twitter account and asked Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg for financial help.

"Kris (Kardashian's mother Kris Jenner) finally told her that Kanye was ruining their brand and draining their money — and that she should end it as soon as possible," the insider added. "I believe Kim's already secretly spoken to divorce attorneys."

"She eventually found out from her accountants, and Kim feels he's essentially stolen millions from her," the source said.

IBTimes UK has contacted both Kardashian and Kanye's spokespersons for comments on the divorce report. Kardashian tied the knot with the 38-year-old rapper in Florence, Italy, on 24 May 2014. The 35-year-old reality star, who has daughter North West and son Saint West with Kanye, has a history of failed marriages.

In 2000, Kardashian eloped to Las Vegas and married Damon Thomas, when she was just 19. They split three years later. In August 2011, Kardashian married NBA star Kris Humphries after just six months of dating. But the couple parted ways in 72 days.
