Cristiano Ronaldo buys Fifty Shades of Grey-inspired apartment in New York
Soccer ace Cristiano Ronaldo has bought a 2,509sq ft loft in Trump Tower on Fifth Avenue, New York for $18.5 million (28.5 million euro). The three-bedroom apartment has been rendered by world-renowned designer Juan Pablo Molyneux.
The property is in the tower developed by US tycoon and presidential candidate Donald Trump, on New York's Fifth Avenue. The loft was at the centre of the 50 Shades of Grey phenomenon, The New York Post reported. EL James, the author of 50 Shades of Grey, was inspired by the luxurious surroundings of the apartment, which helped her to create the novel's notorious bachelor pad owned by the book's lead character, Christian Grey.
The apartment has spectacular panoramic views of Central Park and the Hudson River, and breathtaking views of Manhattan's most iconic buildings, including the Empire State Building, Chrysler Building and Freedom Tower.
It's a pet-friendly building and luxury cars are welcome too. The purchase was finalised in August, marking Ronaldo's first real-estate play in America. He already owns properties in the UK.
