Is Mariah Carey engaged to her billionaire boyfriend James Packer?

We're hoping its lucky the third time around for Mariah Carey who has reportedly said yes to marrying boyfriend James Packer. The Australian billionaire is said to have gone down on one knee with a 35 carat diamond ring.

According to a report by E!, the songstress and her boyfriend of eight months got engaged on 21 January in New York when Packer popped the question to Carey in front of her close friends at a private dinner at Eleven Madison Park.

If the rumours are true then this looks to be a fast romance for the couple who only started dating in June 2015, a few months after Carey split from musician and actor Nick Cannon.

On the Steve Harvey Show in November, Carey recalled when she first met Packer, "We were talking and laughing and people were getting mad at us and stuff like that. So, we hit it off," she said.

Carey, 45, was married to Cannon for close to seven years and the former couple have two children, fraternal twins Monroe and Moroccan. Prior to that she was married to music mogul Tommy Mottola.

48-year old Packer has been ranked by Forbes as Australia's fourth richest man and has business interests in entertainment, real estate and casinos. He too was married twice before and has three children from those marriages.

The couple are still to make any official statement about their engagement.
