OnePlus 2: OxygenOS 2.2.1 seeding to users but no Android 6.0 Marshmallow yet
OnePlus has started rolling out the latest OxygenOS 2.2.1 for OnePlus 2 users, the company declared on its support forum. However, there is no confirmation or sign from the company yet on when Android Marshmallow would arrive for OnePlus devices.
Allen W, a project manager of the Oxygen team, declared the news to OnePlus 2 users on the forum saying: "We've started rolling out OxygenOS 2.2.1 on the device."
Here's what the company announced as new in this update:
- RAW support in OnePlus Camera
- Bluetooth compatibility improvement
- Ultra SIM compatibility improvement
- GMS 3.0 upgrade
- Improvement for roaming issues
- Fix for occasional image corruption issue in OnePlus Camera
- Security patch update
- Romanian language support
While most users seemed happy, some who did not prefer the Oxygen OS kept harping on when Android Marshmallow will be released for OnePlus users. OnePlus has vaguely in the past said it would release the latest Android update by Q2 2016 but has still not given any specific date or even month.
The company only recently launched the OnePlus X, a compact take on its earlier OnePlus models. While OnePlus 1 became the flagship killer and dominated the market when it was launched, OnePlus 2 was not received as well as the maiden model. Yet loyal OnePlus users have stuck to the brand owing to the custom Cyanogen experience it provides despite being an Android phone. Plus there is always the option to switch to Oxygen OS for those who prefer it.
