Ryan Reynolds hit-and-run: Actor escapes injury after being struck by 'paparazzi' car
Green Lantern actor Ryan Reynolds is said to be doing "okay" after being struck by a car in a hit-and-run, with the driver fleeing the scene.
The incident took place in Vancouver, Canada, on 10 April when the 38-year-old was standing in an underground car park at the Shangri-La hotel. Reynolds' publicist claims it was a member of the paparazzi who was driving the vehicle.
In a statement released to Sky News, Leslie Sloane explained: "While walking, Ryan was struck by a paparazzi driving a car through an underground parking garage. The man fled the scene. Ryan is okay."
Constable Brian Montague of the Vancouver police confirmed the incident took place in an email to CBC News, stating: "I can confirm we attended and investigated the hit-and-run in the parking lot on Friday and there were no injuries.
He added: "Unfortunately I have not been given an update and don't know the outcome or how things have progressed with confirming who the driver is."
Liz Sperandeo, public relations manager at the hotel, also told the publication: "We have extended our full incidence to the authorities who are handling the matter."
Fortunately, Reynolds was able to show his sense of humour following the hit-and-run. When the website asked how he was doing after the incident via Twitter, the new father made a reference to a long-running comedy, replying:
The Canadian actor is currently in Vancouver to film scenes for his upcoming movie Deadpool, in which he stars as Wade Wilson, a Special Forces officer who obtains healing powers. The film will also star Homeland actress Morena Baccarin and is scheduled for release in 2016.
The Proposal star and his wife, Gossip Girl actress Blake Lively, recently welcomed their first child, a daughter named James.
