Samsung kicks off global sales of Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge
Starting today (11 March) Samsung's latest Galaxy iterations coming in two variants — Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge — are available for purchase around the globe in markets including Europe, US, Singapore, Australia and Korea.
Galaxy S7/S7 Edge pre-orders
Unveiled at the Mobile World Congress event on 21 February, the Galaxy duo went on pre-order the day following the announcement. Samsung claims it is seeing stronger-than-expected pre-orders for its flagship Galaxy models. Koh Dong-jin, president of Samsung, did not disclose any figure but said the company expects the S7s to help revive sales in China, which is considered a key market. But market analysts predict the sales in the first year will be weaker than sales of S6 a year ago, suggests a Reuters report.
Featuring a redefined design, advanced camera, streamlined software functionality and offering a wide range of connectivity to an array of products and services, the Galaxy duo are water and dust resistant bearing IP (Ingress Protection) rating IP68 and support wireless charging. The 5.1in Galaxy S7 and the 5.5in S7 Edge are crafted into 3D glass and metal with ergonomic curves for a comfortable grip.
The smartphones pack dual pixel technology featuring brighter lens with wider aperture and bigger pixels to deliver brighter and sharper photos even in low-light condition. The combination of a powerful processor and bigger battery is claimed to offer longer playing time while the cooling systems keep the device from overheating.
