SmackDown results: Biggest winners and losers; The Miz vs Dolph Ziggler at No Mercy announced
The event was aired from Cleveland, Ohio on 27 September.
The latest episode of SmackDown Live saw Dean Ambrose square off against champion AJ Styles for the WWE World Championship title in the main match card. Another featured match saw American Alpha, Heath Slater and Rhyno clash against The Ascension and The Usos.
Below are the SmackDown results for 27 September:
Dean Ambrose vs AJ Styles (WWE World Championship)
Dean Ambrose went head-on at AJ Styles as soon as the bell rang. John Cena, who was doing commentary ringside, reminded viewers that Ambrose could not win the fight via a count out. However, during the match Cena distracted the referee when Ambrose had the Lunatic Fringe rolled up. Next, an angry Ambrose nailed Cena to the floor, which gave Styles time and he rolled up Ambrose for the win. AJ Styles has retained his WWE World Championship title.
Nikki Bella and Naomi vs Natalya and Carmella
The divas went at each other from the start. However, in the end Natalya and Carmella won the fight when the latter pinned Nikki for the win.
American Alpha, Heath Slater and Rhyno vs The Ascension and The Usos
Chad Gable's knee got injured during the fight, but he still managed to tag in Heath Slater. But The Usos tried to cause damage to Slater's knee as well and he tapped out. The Usos and The Ascension defeated American Alpha, Heath Slater and Rhyno via submission.
The Miz vs Dolph Ziggler (Title vs Career at No Mercy)
The Miz took to the ring to celebrate his win over his rivals. However, as he was celebrating his achievements, he told Dolph Ziggler's parents – seated in the front row – that they have created a world class loser. Next, Ziggler came out and called out The Miz for one last rematch. Initially The Miz declined, but agreed when Ziggler said he will put his career on the line. The match has been scheduled for No Mercy, which will air from the Golden 1 Center in Sacramento, California on 9 October.
