Windows 10 Mobile: Microsoft hints OS could be launched in November
After the rollout of Windows 10 for PCs, Microsoft has hinted that the mobile version of the operating system could be launched somewhere in November.
A report in WMPowerUser suggests that though the mobile variant of Windows 10 was speculated to be released along with the desktop version, it could now be delayed until November.
Microsoft South Africa's senior leader Anthony Doherty cautiously pointed to a "November timeframe" (for the release of the Windows 10 Mobile), according to iAfrica.
Previously, reports had claimed that Windows 10 Mobile would be launched in September or latest by October, but now it seems unlikely that the update would reach users in the next three months.
Moreover, Windows 10 Mobile could take even longer to reach older Lumia smartphones in countries where OS updates are dependent on wireless carriers. However, an earlier report had claimed that updates to the OS could be released independent of network providers.
Currently, the OS is being tested by engineers at Microsoft and registered Windows Phone users known as Insiders.
Giving updates about Windows 10 Mobile, Doherty has stated that users in US and UK will be able to use Microsoft's Cortana straight out of the box, unlike their counterparts in South African, who would have to change language settings on their smartphones to access the app.
