As promised, Xiaomi has started rolling out MIUI 7 global stable build for MIUI users worldwide. The stable version, unlike the experimental build, does not receive update frequently, but only once in a month or two. Those who prefer stability over the operating system are advised to use this build.

The devices eligible for receiving this stable build are Mi 3, 4, Mi Pad, Mi Note, Redmi 1S 3G, Redmi Note 4G, Redmi 2 and Prime. These devices should now be able to see an OTA update via the 'Updater' app. The update will not be available for all users at the moment as it is a phased rollout. Those who cannot wait for the OTA might consider downloading the ROM package.

The global stable build incorporates a slew of changes and improvements including up to 30% faster performance, up to 10% longer battery life, Baby and Pet albums, new themes and more. Here are the changes made in each segment:

System

  • Optimisation - System response speed increased by 30%, battery life improved by 10%

Ho to update to MIUI 7 global stable build

Those who are running the stable version of MIUI 5 or 6 can directly update their devices through the OTA. Simply open the 'Updater' app then check for update. Press Update option if you see a new version. Once the download is complete, press Reboot now.

Head over to MIUI forum if you are looking for alternative methods such as flashing recovery ROM or, using Mi PC suite. But do not forget to create a backup of all data of your phone before you perform an installation manually. Performing an OTA is safe but if you are flashing the full ROM, creating a backup is highly recommended. Head over to official MIUI forum to know more about the stable build of MIUI 7.
